MAURICE POWER HEADS NEW CAMPAIGN FOR PETERBOROUGH BUSINESSES TO #PAYFAIR

Peterborough businesses are being urged to support one another in an unconventional new campaign for the city. #PayFair aims to reduce the number of city businesses that close each year due to cashflow problems, by asking firms to commit to paying on time.

The idea seeks to help the city build on its growing business success. Peterborough’s business community has continued to expand over the last five years, and in 2014 the number of businesses within the city reached 6,900, up 300 on the previous year and included the launch of 990 new companies (ONS).

COURT COSTS PUT SMES AT A DISADVANTAGE

Ferguson Financial Solicitors warned today that soaring civil court fees are making the pursuit of justice too expensive for many small firms.

According to the legal firm, banks and other big businesses are increasingly getting away with poor advice and mis-selling financial products.

Large rises in the cost of taking a civil case to court were imposed by the Ministry of Justice in March this year. The Government has since announced further rises – in some cases by as much as 100 per cent.

MD Maurice Power addresses V4B business event

Hosted by the Peterborough and South Kesteven branches of the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), around 80 local business people attended the event on the evening of Tuesday 15th September.
